KBR Awarded Contract for UK Government Work in Iraq and Afghanistan

KBR announced that it has been selected by the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to provide life support, vehicle maintenance and healthcare services across Baghdad, Basra and Erbil in Iraq, and Kabul and Lashkar Gah in Afghanistan.

This builds on KBR's existing relationship with FCO delivering services in challenging environments. The three-year contract, won by KBR's UK-based International Government & Defence business unit, also provides FCO with options for vehicle maintenance in Sudan and Pakistan.

Dyncorp and AECOM NSP JV Selected on $9.7bTranslation and Interpretation Contract

DynCorp International (DI) and AECOM today announced that Global Linguist Solutions (GLS), a joint venture between DI and AECOM's NSP unit, has been selected as one of six providers that will compete for task orders on the $9.7 billion Defense Language Interpretation Translation Enterprise (DLITE) contract.

Awarded by the Department of the Army on July 1, 2011, the multiple award Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) hybrid contract provides translation and interpretation services for personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, supervision and other items and any other non-personal services necessary to perform language interpretation and translation services for Force Projection Operations mission area only.

G4S-SJC Awarded $90m For Navy Diego Garcia Construction

G4S-SJC, LLC, San Diego, Calif., is being awarded a maximum $90,000,000 design-build indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity construction contract for various repairs, alteration, construction, and demolition work to shore facilities at the U.S. Navy Support Facility, Diego Garcia.

Task order 0001 is being awarded at $3,951,880 for the repair shoreline revetment at the back of Bachelor Officers Quarters 7 at U.S. Navy Support Facility, Diego Garcia;

Task order 0002 is being awarded at $1,172,466 for the replacement of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system at facility number 939, Air Force Galley, Diego Garcia;

Task order 0003 is being awarded at $217,571 for the construction of a shelter for two base stations at U.S. Navy Support Facility, Diego Garcia.

Work for all three task orders is expected to be completed by July 2012.

All work on this contract will be performed in Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory, and is expected to be completed by July 2014.

Contract funds in the amount of $3,951,880 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

IAP Wins Power Contract in Afghanistan

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded IAP Worldwide Services, Inc. a contract valued at approximately $17 million to provide permanent reliable power at Forward Operating Base Dwyer in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan.

The work consists of the provision of a leased centralized modular 5mW Continuous Power Plant including the transporting, installation, operation, and maintenance of the Power Plant. The contract also includes the construction and operation and maintenance and repair of the Distribution System for the Forward Operating Base. It is expected to be completed May 1, 2011.

“Since 2002, IAP has been one of the largest providers of power in the Middle East in the support of military missions for the Department of Defense,” said Dwight Clark, Senior Vice President of IAP’s Global Operations and Logistics business operations, located in Panama City, Florida. “We take great pride in this award, which demonstrates the depth of IAP’s expertise in providing safe, reliable, and economical power solutions in remote and hostile environments.”

IAP currently provides a total of 253 megawatts of power at 18 sites in the Middle East, which includes a 24-megawatt power plant and distribution grid at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan operated by the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency.

“IAP’s power generation team has a solid record with proven results,” said L.D. Hutto, President of the Power Generation business segment. “Leveraging years of experience, we understand the vital role that generating power plays in ongoing operations for the warfighter.”

Work is to be performed in Kuwait (50 percent) and Iraq (50 percent), with an estimated completion date of Dec. 31, 2010.

G4S Afghan contract raises profile of Britain’s security industry
